Painter smoothing a wall with plaster.

Cracks, holes, failed tape, water stains and poorly blended patches often remain visible even after they have been painted.

Shevco Painting repairs common drywall and plaster defects, prepares the surrounding surface and repaints the appropriate area for a cleaner, more uniform finish.

Drywall and Plaster Require Different Repairs

Drywall and plaster can develop similar-looking cracks and damage, but they are not always repaired the same way.

Drywall repairs may involve replacing failed tape, patching damaged board, sealing torn paper or feathering joint compound across a wider area. Plaster may require stabilizing loose material, opening and filling cracks or rebuilding localized damaged sections.

We identify the existing wall material before defining the repair method.

Water Damage Must Be Corrected First

We provide cosmetic wall and ceiling repair after the source of the water has been corrected and the affected material is dry.

We do not stop active leaks, provide emergency drying, perform mold remediation or replace roofing and plumbing. Those issues must be handled by the appropriate qualified contractor before repair and painting begin.

Painting over active moisture can hide ongoing damage and cause the new coating to fail.

Why Repainting the Full Wall or Ceiling Is Often Better

A small paint touch-up can remain visible because the existing coating has aged, absorbed differently or developed a different sheen.

After a repair, repainting the full wall or ceiling plane often creates a more consistent color, texture and finish than attempting to blend one small area.

Our Wall and Ceiling Repair Process

  • Inspect the defect and identify whether an active leak or movement problem remains.
  • Determine whether the damaged surface is drywall, plaster or another material.
  • Protect floors, furniture, fixtures and adjacent surfaces.
  • Remove loose or unsound material included in the scope.
  • Patch damaged areas and replace failed tape where required.
  • Skim, feather and sand the repair to blend it into the surrounding surface.
  • Inspect the repair under appropriate lighting.
  • Prime bare repairs, torn drywall paper and water stains as required.
  • Repaint the full wall, ceiling or agreed area for a uniform finish.
  • Inspect the repaired surface from multiple angles before cleanup.

Why Stain-Blocking Primer Matters

Water stains and some previous damage can bleed through ordinary wall or ceiling paint even when the surface appears dry.

A compatible stain-blocking primer seals the discoloration before the finish coats are applied. Primer does not correct an active leak, damp material or damaged drywall and plaster.

Wall and Ceiling Repair FAQs

Yes. We complete localized cosmetic repairs to drywall and plaster as part of painting projects.

The repair method depends on the material, extent of the damage and whether loose or unstable areas remain.

Smooth drywall is no problem and some localized textures can be blended, but a perfectly invisible match is not always possible.

We inspect the existing texture and explain whether a localized repair or a broader resurfacing approach is likely to produce the better result.

The patch may be raised, recessed, too smooth, too rough or not feathered far enough into the surrounding surface.

Paint changes the color, but it does not flatten or correct a poorly finished repair. We can fix that.

No. Plumbing leaks, roof leaks, exterior water entry and other active causes must be corrected by the appropriate contractor before we complete cosmetic repair and painting.

We do not provide mold remediation. Suspected mold or extensive moisture damage should be evaluated and corrected by a qualified professional before painting begins.
